This is my favourite make from scratch recipe. It is homemade Marinara sauce. This is the easiest version ever, very flavourful and can be made in under 10 minutes if you have tomato puree and minced garlic in your freezer.
Marinara, is an Italian sauce which can be stored in the freezer for about 1 month.
Use it to make :
- Conventional Pizza
- Bread pizza
- Tomato pasta
- Mexican red bean rice
- Rice fitters.
Many of you might be thinking why to waste time in preparing the marinara sauce at home when it is conveniently available at super markets ? My reason for making it at home is to customise it to my taste and texture . Other thing is I can control what is to be added in it. It is needless to say, it is without preservatives, so I can feed it to my two year old without any worry.
Once you get a hand on this recipe I am sure you are going to stay away from canned ready to eat sauce.
To make Home made Marinara sauce, I am using all basic Ingredients which you would definitely find in your refrigerator and pantry right now, there is nothing fancy about this.
Quantities of all ingredients can be varied to suit your palette. You can choose it to be chunky or smooth. If you do not have tomato puree, you can churn raw tomatoes and use, But cooking time would be more and consistency would be a bit thicker.
It will taste as good as store bought sauce with all goodness of fresh ingredients.
2 tablespoons olive oil
Tomato puree of 4 big tomatoes
2 table spoon minced garlic
1 tea spoon sugar
1 table spoon red chilli powder
